In-Vitro Division

The National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences has a well equipped Radioimmunoassay laboratory (RIA) and a Chemiluminescent Immunoassay (CLIA) Laboratory in the In Vitro division. By using the RIA and modern CLIA techniques the In Vitro division is estimating Serum Total T4 (T4), Serum Total T3 (T3), Free T3 (FT3), Free T4 (FT4), Serum Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Luetinizing Hormone (LH), Serum Follicular Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Serum Prolactin, Serum Progesterone, Serum Testosterone, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), Thyroglobulin (Tg), Parathormone (PTH), Thyroglobulin Antibody (TgAb), Thyroperoxidase Antibody (TPOAb), Alpha Feto Protein (AFP), Estradiol (E2), Calcitonin, Cortisol, Serum Calcium and Serum Vitamin D. This is to be mentioned that by using CLIA method NINMAS is capable of delivering reports within 24 hours. By introducing LIS (Laboratory Information System), the whole process of blood collection, assay running and collection of report has been automated. In Vitro Division is also playing an important role in the screening of Congenital Hypothyroidism by Newborn Screening with the aid of Dissociation Enhanced Lanthanide Fluorescence Immunoassay (DELFIA) technique in Dried Blood Spot (DBS) method. Thesis works of post graduate students of Nuclear Medicine as well as different departments of BSMMU are being conducted in the In Vitro Division.
